Words

Johanna's vocabulary continues to develop at an astounding pace. Her words to date:

ball ("ba")
bath ("ba")
baby
Mama
Papa ("Bapa")
Lilia ("Lia")
byebye
Tschüß
Guck! (German word for look at this!)
all done ("dun")
cheese ("tshiss")
shoes ("shiss")
Johanna ("nana" or "nanana" . . . she points to herself when she says it)
dog
duck
book ("booka booka")
up
down
outside ("utsid")
diaper ("biper")

and the inevitable
Nein! . . . although she just started using this word over the weekend.

It is fun to say words to her and watch her try to repeat them, screwing up her little face in concentration and usually coming out with a jumble of syllables.

And she finally has tooth #5, one of the left upper incisiors. Number 6 is on the way on the opposite side, and down below she has two swollen spots on either side of her "ticket punchers." She chews on her hand and drools pretty much the whole day.
